Converse today announced a collaboration with indie-electro demigod M83. The French artist has partnered with the footwear brand in the release of an M83-inspired pair of the footwear brand’s classic hightops. The limited edition Chuck Taylor All Stars feature a cleanly designed starry motif with the M83 named etched out in constellation form. This is the latest in a series of collaborations Converse has done with artists including Matt & Kim and Gorillaz.

In conjunction with the release, Converse is sponsoring a design contest where fans can submit original artwork (drawings, photography, paintings, etc.), inspired by M83’s critically lauded 2011 release Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming ,or any of its songs. (We’re envisioning some ultra-fresh ‘Midnight City’-inspired 80s style kicks). Entries can be submitted to M83Contest@Converse.com or via Instagram using the hashtag #M83Converse.

Up to three winners will be selected and their artwork will be chosen to feature on limited edition M83 posters. 100 of each winning poster design will be sold at M83’s Central Park SummerStage show in NYC on August 8th. Winners will also receive a pair of the customized M83 Chuck Taylor All-Stars. The contest begins today, July 2nd, and entries will be accepted until July 31, 2012.
