For those in the know, Kaskade premiering his remix of Lana Del Rey’s Gatsby song, “Young and Beautiful” was a moment that stopped time. Industry heavy hitters in attendance at his Las Vegas gigs during EDC Las Vegas Week went ballistic, hitting Twitter to sing their praises for the big room anthem that would come our way. Although it has not been officially released, the track has already found its way around the blogosphere for Kaskade fans to gobble up. Even if the unofficial’s sound quality isn’t up to par (much to Ryan’s audiophile disdain), the track’s power is undeniable regardless. The songstress’s vocals, perfect for remixing as is evident in her newfound darling status among producers the world over, are carried angelically along thanks to Kaskade’s heavenly strings, anthemic claps, and invigorating breakdowns. The build up to the song’s first drop is a journey in it of itself, taking us above the clouds to soon be thrust back down to earth and the visceral energy of the remix’s drops. To say this rework will be a big room anthem would be a big understatement. Few Lana remixes can truly stand out on their own (think RAC’s Blue Jeans and Cedric Gervais’ “Summertime Sadness”). Kaskade’s goes above the pack and will serve as the background to many a podcast, set, and more far beyond the summer.
