Since the grand reopening of Marquee Nightclub in NYC’s lower west side a few short months ago, a number of legendary artists have spun it’s decks. From David Guetta to Tiesto, Marquee has returned in a grand fashion. Further confirming it’s overnight takeover as New York’s premiere nightspot, Laidback Luke decided to drop by and take his turn on the tables. As to be expected the show quickly sold out, despite its announcement only six days prior. For those lucky enough to be in attendance, Luke spun a stellar set and reminded us why he’s The Netherlands' most talented export.

The pounding beats emitting from Marquee’s dimly lit hallway sufficiently seduced club goers into a grand ballroom with the most lavish of set ups. The upscale venue’s stunning light system and impeccable stage setting was the perfect atmosphere for Luke to arrive in. The EDM legend entered to cheers and hundreds of heartfelt professions of Laidback love from his fans and immediately dove into his set. Feeding off the crowd’s energy, he had everyone bouncing on the beat like they were “jumping on the pogo.” Playing hit after hit, the crowd quickly obliged to “break the house down” at Luke’s request. With double L’s in the air, Luke commanded the crowd, harnessed their energy, and gave one of his most intimate shows to date.

Unafraid to take risks, he even threw in some Rage Against The Machine mid set. A seemingly difficult transition from electro house to metal would be an intimidating task for any seasoned DJ, but Luke made it look like child’s play as he effortlessly mixed in the track without a hiccup to the vibe of his set. Paying homage to his wife (DJ Gina Turner) in attendance, he also dropped her new single “Chocolate.”

A star-studded show with celebrities from Alesso to Sebastian Ingrosso in attendance, Laidback spun an electric two-hour set that made everyone move. His dynamic choice of tracks that included some of his older hits like his “Dirty Talk” remix, up to his recent collaboration with Hardwell on “Dynamo,” fluidly commanded the crowds attention and proved why he’s one of the most in demand DJs in the world. Long live Laidback Luke.
