Dillon Francis became the first moombahton artist to reach No. 1 on Beatport, with his 2012 single “Masta Blasta.” Since then, Francis has become one of the most recognizable faces in dance music—hundreds of Francis’ fans attend his shows waving larger-than-life posters of his face over their heads.

Francis’ fans not only love his music, they can’t get enough of the man himself. Francis is an unstoppable force of energy; he’s hilariously goofy and isn’t camera shy. He’s almost as famous for his Instagram, love of cats, outrageous memes and alter ego, DJ Hanzel, as he is for his music.

Although at times it’s hard to take Francis seriously, no one questions his ability to produce great music. As one of the pioneers of Moombahton, Francis’ music is an irresistibly danceable combination of reggaeton and electronic sounds. This year Francis slowed down his track “I.D.G.A.F.O.S. 2.0” to 30 bpm, revealing the bittersweet core of the original song. “That track is one of my favorites, because it shows that my songs can be really aggressive but that I’m [also] making really beautiful music,” he says.
We know, Dillon. That’s why the world loves you.
