Mash-up mastermind Dosvec has brought the genre that takes beat matching to the extreme to the forefront. With thousands of downloads, and fans, under his belt, Dosvec has spun multiple tracks into gold, and often, out done the original. In honor of reaching 20,000 facebook fans, the Tampa based producer has decided to give away a 20K bootleg pack for free to all his fans as a thank you for their support! For those curious about how one takes artists like Zeds Dead, and splices it with B.O.B, to make a track that out dues both originals, check out our interview below:

How did you get started with mashups
D: its been something ive been doing for a long time. I was DJ Whatt for many years. I did electronic records, put out over 10 vinyls. Things started to become stagnant, and I just wanted a different outlet. I was already making mash-ups so I came up with the name Dosvec. “Dos” meaning two in Spanish, and “Veces” short for the Spanish Veces, which means times. To create a mash-up you put something two things together two times, hence the name Dosvec.

How many years ago did you start? What were you doing before?
D: About 4 years ago. I was DJing all over the US, Europe, Canada, and Central America as DJ Whatt.

Is producing and touring a full time gig?
D:Yes, I don’t do anything else. I have some great people around me that are helping me do this full time. I have some corporate clients that request this type of music. It’s been a full time thing for me since day 1. If you don’t jump in head-first immediately, you’re not giving yourself a chance for success.

Are you at all interested in making originals, or just mash ups?
D:I do have a couple of originals. We will start developing them, talking to different labels, after the holiday season. Although I may release some originals, I am still a huge supporter of the mash-up genre because it has gotten me where I am today.

What would you describe your sound as?
D:Well, my motto is “if you’re not doing, I am not doing my job,” so I would say my sound is something that would be well received at 2pm on Tuesday afternoon or 2am on a Monday. Overall, a party friendly sound. Predominately its all electro and progressive house with a twist of break beat thrown into it.

Who are some artists that you would like to collaborate with?
D:That’s the thing with these mashups. I did want to work with artists, but I would have to call up Atlantic Records say I wanted to work with B.O.B and go through all these loop holes. Instead, I thought I could do it myself and skip that whole process. What ended up happening was B.O.B heard my mash-up and tweeted it out. Atlantic Records got a hold of me and said “Holy shit, this is awesome.” They told me it was so much better than the original. There isn’t particularly one person I want to work with, that’s why mash-ups are such a great medium.

What mashup are you most proud of?
D: I would have to say my B.O.B. vs Zeds Dead "Beast Break" mash-up. It has close to a million plays on youtube, and 100,000 downloads.

How do you make a mash-up?
D:My process is a little bit different. I tend to listen all the new dance music that is out there. I look for areas that can be filled with either vocals, or that would be a good mix with another song at the same time. My process really just starts by listening to all the new music that comes out.

What are your plans for 2014?
D:I really want to focus on taking A.D.D the radio show out on the road. We just had two shows in St.Louis and San Francisco. A.D.D live.

Happy holidays everyone! Download the free bootleg pack here.
