Today, we have learned the shocking news that Day 3 of Electric Zoo has been canceled, due to 2 fatal drug overdoses and the hospitalization of 4 others currently in intensive care.

First and foremost, elektro would like to offer our condolences to the families of those effected, as we are deeply saddened by their untimely loss.

While many are outraged at this decision, it was a mutual agreement between Made Event and the Governor's office of New York.

We must take a step back to examine the status of this scene as a whole, and acknowledge the fact that these events are not meant to be playgrounds for those who wish to indulge in the consumption of illegal drugs. These events are built on the idea of love and togetherness, not taking more drugs than your body can handle. While we understand that it is impossible to prevent everyone from the recreational use of drugs at festivals, we urge these people to be smart if they are going to partake in such activities, because if you're not, you ruin it for everyone else, and even worse, tragedies such as the ones we've learned about today occur. We are fully confident that our scene will eventually grow to embody the ideas and beliefs we hold, these incidents are an indication of the strides we must make before that happens. Again, we are deeply sorry for the loss of our fellow dance music fans, and we wish those in critical condition a speedy and full recovery.
