It seems that 2013 is the year of the hypocritical priest when it comes to the music videos of this year’s most anticipated releases. Beginning with Felix da Housecat’s “Sinner Winner” in mid-April, the trend has now found itself manifested in one of the catchiest tunes of the summer, Disclosure’s “When a Fire Starts to Burn." Released just over a week ago, the track has exploded on blogs and playlists all over the world in palpable anticipation for the UK brothers’ June 3rd debut album, 'Settle.' The duo have been releasing track after track, each one better than the last, and the visual companion to the latest brings us what can only be described as the holy ghost of funk. The video begins with a sermon preaching about the conflicts that come with change, comparing the process as “combustion." Then he breaks into song and things get real. The song is impossible not to dance to, and so the congregation present does just that! Disclosure gives us the whole crazy package, complete with possessed dancing and even a human-turned-cat. The video even touches on similar themes as da Housecat’s own companion; the wacky scene turns out to be a TV hoax with a cash-hungry prayer hotline (1-800-PRAY-HARD). Check out the provocative video and addictive track above!
